Performance and installation, 2020

This project looks at the tensions between modern and traditional medicine through an installation conceptualised around a 'witch' doctor's pharmacy. As an interactive space, visitors could sit and take a closer look at the tools, iconography, and ingredients on the table. Surrounding it are sheets of fabric dyed with turmeric and bleach, whose materiality focuses on the discrepancy between the manufactured and the natural.

The installation was activated by Putri with a performance by the artist preparing and making the jamu tonic kunyit asem, whilst humming the melody to the Indonesian folksong: Suwe Ora Jamu.
